Electronic Arts, more commonly known as EA, is located in Redwood Shores.  It is one of the bigger companies and employers in San Mateo County.  It is located on Redwood Shores Parkway across the street from Nob Hills Food Store.

I am told the reason Redwood Shores has so many geese is because they are left over from Marine World Park and have multiplied.  They aren't friendly, so I wouldn't try to approach them.  When I lived in Redwood Shores, I would see a pack of them and cross the street because a few times they attacked me.

The Redwood Shores library opened its doors in September of 2008.  With all the residents that live in Redwood Shores, it was about time to bring one of our great libraries to their neighborhood.  There is plenty of parking and a walking-biking trail behind it.

The Redwood City sign is located on Broadway right near the train tracks.  It is one of the more recognizable landmarks in Redwood City.

Laurel Park is located right in the middle of Downtown San Carlos on Laurel Street.  It is hidden between two buildings so you don't see it until you get close.  If you look for Bank of America, it is directly across the street.  It is a great spot to picnic, relax or enjoy a concert during the summer.

Redwood City's Courthouse Square is located in Downtown Redwood City right across from the Little Fox Theater.  On Friday's during the summer months, the city of Redwood City hosts concerts in the park.  It is also a great place to have a picnic or coffee on a nice day.

The San Carlos public library is one of the Peninsula Library Systems newer libraries.  It is located in Downtown San Carlos on 610 Elm Street next to the San Carlos police station and right across the street from the Pacific Hacienda condos.

The San Carlos Caltrain station is located at the corner of San Carlos Ave and El Camino Real.  There is plenty of parking for those of you who don't live within walking distance.

1001 Laurel is a recently opened condo complex in San Carlos.  They are located .... you guessed it....at 1001 Laurel in San Carlos.  One side of the building faces Laurel and one side faces El Camino Real.  Want to use a Realtor to help you buy one of these?  You need to bring them on your first visit.  Not planning on getting your own representation?  Read this blog post that explains why you should consider using a Realtor when you purchase a new condo in San Carlos.

The Pacific Hacienda condo complex in Downtown San Carlos is one of San Carlos' newer condominium units.  Built in 2003, each unit has many of the upgrades you wouldn't find in many San Carlos homes.  Combine all the amenities the Pacific Hacienda Complex has with a killer Downtown San Carlos location, and you have some of the most desirable condos in San Carlos.  Search San Carlos condos for sale.

Redwood Shores surprised me as one of the best San Mateo County cities to tour Christmas lights.  Redwood Shores home owners really outdid themselves with their lights and decorations.  This house, on the corner of Cringle and Dory won the best dressed award.  They even have their own radio station with Christmas music for you to enjoy while you watch the show.  Check it out before Christmas if you can.  For a route map of Redwood Shores home decorated for Christmas, check out my Best Redwood Shores Homes for Christmas Lights post.

Carlmont Scots mural on the side of the gymnasium building.  Carlmont High School is located in Belmont CA, with one building in San Carlos.  Carlmont serves Belmont and San Carlos high school aged kids.

Video Only is one of San Mateo's local electronic stores, similar to a smaller version of Circuit City.  They have quite a large selection of TV's, VCR's, cameras, DVD players and video equipment at very low prices.  They're located at 1801 South Grant Street in San Mateo.  There are also three other Bay Area locations.

Hillsdale Mall, located at 60 31st Avenue in San Mateo, is one of the few traditional malls you'll find in San Mateo County.  The next closest mall to the South is Stanford Shopping Center and to the North, Tanforan Mall.  They have your traditional mall stores and department stores.

Trader Joe's is one of San Mateo's specialty grocery stores and is located at 1820 South Grant Street.  They carry a lot of different food products at bargain prices.  The inside of their stores have a neighborhood grocer feel because they are usually fairly small.  And, like most Mom and Pop shops, they have great service.  They tend to shy away from any name brand merchandise and carry a lot of their own brands.  Stop in there next time you're in San Mateo.  You can also try their location across from Hillsdale Mall.

The sign at the entrance to Twin Pines Park in Belmont.  The property has a park, walking trail and several City of Belmont buildings.  Belmont residents can rent out the facilities for parties and events of all sizes at bargain prices.
